I've actually thought about deleting my blog because I haven't updated it in so long. I couldn't allow myself to go through the process though because blogging is something I want to maintain, something I feel will help me somehow.
I'm hoping my blog will make me a better, more creative writer. I'm hoping it will help me analyze and critique things that I love, like fashion, makeup, etc. I'm also hoping it will allow me to think about things in a way others will find interesting.
So far, I have really struggled to write. I never know how to write anything that would make others want to read. I don't think I've written anything substantial as of yet. Nothing to brag about that's for sure. I think I kind of gave up to be honest......No. I know I did.
But over the last week, I came across a few things that motivated me to blog again. Ragan's PRDaily writes some pretty interesting posts. Their 10 New Ideas For Getting Inspired to Write let me realize that writing something inspirational isn't always easy. Not everyone is a good writer and for those that are, their writing develops with practice and inspiration. Writer's block happens to the best of us. What differentiates a good writer with a not-so good writer is finding ways to get out of a slump.
I think this is what my problem was: I over-thought what to write and ended up forcing myself to write unimaginative, boring posts. Then during my busy life schedule, I was not motivated to force myself and write unimaginative, boring posts; so I gave up. But I think I can do it. I think I can make it work.
The lesson I learned in all this: If you find something isn't working for you, don't change what it IS you're doing, change HOW you're doing it. This can be applied to anything: from relationships and financial woes, to studying, organizing....and yes, to blogging.
So the next time you want to give up, just remember you can make anything work with a little bit of change. Pin-point what the problem is, recognize that it does not control you and change how you've dealt with it.
