DESTINATION: ARTISANO

For those that live north of downtown Toronto, it can be somewhat challenging finding good, well-priced "hole in the wall" restaurants unless you decide to settle for big-name food chains. I for one, like to enjoy new and delicious meals that don't come from your average Starbucks or The Keg. So, I've decided to make it my mission to bring these destinations to you.

First up in my series of destinations is Artisano.

Artisano is a little bakery off of Islington and The Queensway that sells everything from gelato, pastries and bread to specialty teas, coffees and smoothies. They also have breakfast, lunch and dinner menus for those looking for a meal.

Even more enticing, Artisano offers discount movie tickets with their "dinner and a movie" deals (considering its close proximity to Queensway cinema, this is one reason I like going.

Besides its convenient location for northern city dwellers, Artisano also offers customers comforting ambience. At night, the fireplace is lit and the guitar-playing musician is strumming away. Go there to catch up on your reading and homework if you're solo, or share a delicious pizza and desert if you're on a date.

I indulged with this creamy delicious vanilla-bean cheescake. One slice: $4.99

Large Chai tea latte: $4.19
