THE NATURE OF THINGS

I've been trying for years to get my skin back the way it used to be; before University and PR school ruined it :(

Stress lead to breakouts and breakouts lead to not-so-nice skin.

If you read my previous posts you might realize I do not like to use harsh products that can irritate and further damage my skin. Over the years, I've gravitated towards more natural skincare products that not only work hard to improve my skin, but also do not further damage it.

Natural skin products do not contain harsh chemicals and ingredients that are too abrasive for your skin. Remember, skin is delicate. The harsher the product, the more damage to your skin.

Here are some of my favourite natural beauty products:

Store-Bought
  • Kiss My Face

Kiss My Face is a skincare line that offers organic skin, hair, oral and sun products. Everything is all-nautral. The best part is, everything smells amazing. I was a fan of the company's Clean for a Day Creamy Face Cleanser. It combined shea butter which softens your skin; jojoba oil that hydrates skin and vitamin C which works to fight free radicals.

Sidenote: I stopped using this product because the store I purchased it from sold out for a long period of time and so I've since found other options; however, had the store not run out of this cleanser, I never would have stopped using it.

  • Juliet's Room

Juliet's Room offers alcohol-free body sprays in a variety of scents. They are certified vegan products that do not contain artifical flavours or colouring. In addition, they are paraben free, phthalate-free. Fragrances include almond, vanilla caramel, pineapple coconut and ginger lemongrass.

One of the best things I found while researching Juliet's Room was the website's key messaging. The company is against animal testing. It is also environmentally friendly and ALL of their products are biodegradable and recyclable. According to the company, it is a "green-energy neutral facility." All-in-all, Juliet's Room is an important company to support.

Home-Made

  • baking soda

My all-time favourite natural beauty product has recently been baking soda. As mentioned in one of my earliest posts, baking soda is perfect for exfoliating. I will never get rid of it! Baking soda is one of the best skincare products you can use to improve the texture, colour and overall look of your skin. It is all natural so it is gentle enough to cleanse and treat your skin. From clearing acne and exfoliating to decreasing inflammation and body odor, baking soda is my secret weapon (well, not so secret anymore). It's also great for whitening teeth!

  • olive oil

Moisturized skin is essential for glowing and more radiant-looking skin. Olive oil has been used for centuries as a natural moisturizer. It is filled with nutrients and antioxidants that help protect and treat the skin from wrinkles and sun exposure. Use olive oil directly on the skin or on the ends of you hair.

Try: mixing sugar and olive oil together to make an organiz scrub.
